For synchronizing sound + vision nothing has made a mark on modern electronic media like Director, Shockwave and Johnny-come-greatly Flash.

Synonymous with multimedia and through it all Form and Function has been privy to bleeding-edge development pre-release starting with pre-Director versions of VideoWorks Interactive, Form and Function has always sought innovative new technologies.

We garnered some small attention mastering the hydra-headed multimedia device controller IMTX-8000 with Lingo scripts. Other projects along our journey had us communicating via MIDI, ARTI {a sort of multimedia MIDI essentially defunct}, Sony-L, etc protocols had established F+F as capable production crew. From time to time we were asked to work on media assets for commercial projects, examples and tutorials and eventually licensed a subset of Wraptures for bundle with Extreme3D.

Intellectual property for license and sale, customized to fit or prêt-a-porter. Over several years our experience creating technically astute creative material found us gathered around conference tables working on one product or another.MacroMedia was one major player who did everything from joint marketing agreements with us to giving corporate demos and stuffing marketing material in each other's packaging, to the tutorial and sample files that shipped with Director to re-branded custom resource template material such as TitleMaker.

Over the years we worked with founders Marc and Devorah Canter, President John Scull, and various business managers to develop presentations, products, and strategies to grow MacroMedia to it's dominance of the interactive communications field.
We were just small cogs attached to the outside of their movable beast, but we did our part.

Adobe eventually thought it all a plumb worth plucking...

Examples, Samples, and tutorials

At several points we were asked to work closely with internal MacroMedia development to create a series of user-friendly tools and various examples of lingo code in use for the more technical users.

These interactive movies allow a casual user to easily control a series of popular video gear via internal vendor-specific X-objects and general Lingo support scripts available to the seasoned developer as well.

These and many other examples were included with copies of MacroMedia Director over several revisions. For instance this one below controlled an external deck to off-load laborious frame-by-frame output of animations into a simple list of Director movies that could be queued up and set a "print to tape" sort of procedure - and then go to out to lunch while our lil' tool slings your pixels and tape around until done.

Nowadays, most computers are fast enough to play these files back in real time and the recording devices can simply run at full-tilt spin and avoid excessive wear and tear.
